Andamur joins Alpega’s RoadHeroes movement with a free barbershop in La Junquera to pay tribute to hauliers.

An initiative to recognise the efforts of professional drivers and offer them a moment of well-being on 17 and 18 May

Andamur, in collaboration with Alpega and its freight exchange platforms Teleroute, Wtransnet and 123cargo, is hosting a new action of the RoadHeroes movement at its La Junquera Service Area: the installation of a free barbershop aimed at hauliers.

On 17 and 18 May, drivers passing through Andamur La Junquera will be able to enjoy a haircut or beard trim at no cost, in a space designed to look after them, recognise their work and highlight their essential role in the logistics chain.

Recognising the true heroes of the road

The RoadHeroes movement, promoted by Alpega, was born as a collective response to one of the biggest challenges facing the sector: the shortage of professional drivers in Europe. Currently, it is estimated that there is a shortage of more than 233,000 drivers in the European market, a figure that could reach 745,000 by 2028 if urgent action is not taken.

‘Without hauliers and truckers, the economy grinds to a halt. Through the RoadHeroes Movement, we are going beyond words, we are taking action to recognise their role, create a future where they feel valued and address the driver shortage as a collective industry challenge,’ said Natasha Adams, CMO of Alpega.

A European route of recognition

The action at Andamur La Junquera marks the start of a European tour that will take the RoadHeroes message to some of the most iconic road transport events, such as the Truck Grand Prix de Nogaro (France), the Logistics Festival (Spain) and TransPro (Belgium). At each stop, experiences will be offered that focus on the well-being and recognition of drivers, key players in an industry that is central to the continent’s operations.

A firm commitment to drivers wellbeing

‘At Andamur, we have been taking care of every driver who takes a route with us for more than 35 years. We know that their health and well-being are fundamental to their daily lives. That is why we enthusiastically join the RoadHeroes Barbershop action. Every gesture counts to improve life on the road’, says Miguel Ángel López, CEO of Andamur.

At Andamur, we hope that this is only the first of many joint actions that will contribute to enhance the value of the profession and improve the quality of life of drivers.
