HVO is a liquid fuel produced from renewable raw materials such as animal fat, used cooking oil and other plant-based waste. The composition of this liquid fuel is very similar to diesel, so it is compatible with conventional diesel engines. Using this synthetic fuel can reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere by up to 90%, which is why at Andamur we want to do our bit and support sustainability in transportation.
To implement this initiative, Primafrio has begun trials to validate a prototype HVO-powered truck as part of the European project LONGRUN. To this end, it has worked on the design, validation and accreditation of new technologies alongside DAF Trucks NV, FEV Group, the Chair of Thermodynamics of Mobile Energy Conversion Systems, Garrett – Advancing Motion, DENSO Europe, Neste, Eindhoven University of Technology and IFP Energies nouvelles.
As of today, we are providing a supply point for Primafrio at our Andamur La Junquera-Llers Service Area so that the truck can perform the relevant tests on its journeys through Europe with this alternative fuel, making the service station one of the first in Spain to serve HVO.
Andamur would like to thank Primafrio and the rest of the LONGRUN project partners for counting on us to assist them and supply this product for them. We continue to work alongside our customers towards more sustainable mobility.
