At Andamur we are committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle and sport. We run many campaigns at our Service Areas which encourage healthy lifestyles for drivers. These include offering good quality, healthy food in the restaurants, making it easy for our clients to participate in sport thanks to our sporting facilities, such as the Andamur La Junquera gym, offering advice on how to do sport in the cabin of a lorry, and coming up with healthy recipes that lorry drivers can cook up on their journeys.
At Andamur we have signed a sports sponsorship agreement that we are very excited about: supporting the Volleyball Section of the Associação Académica de Coimbra, the city where we have our commercial office for Andamur Portugal.
The Associação Académica de Coimbra (AAC) was founded in 1887 by students of the University of Coimbra to defend their rights and encourage their involvement in academic life and wider society.
The AAC played an important role in defending student rights, in the country’s struggle for democracy, and in promoting culture and sport.
The AAC’s volleyball division was created in the 40s and the team won several regional and national titles. Volleyball is an opportunity for young people to get involved in extracurricular activities, make new friends, and develop important skills such as teamwork, leadership, and communication.
The AAC is one of the country’s top volleyball clubs, having won six 2nd Division National Championships and one in the 3rd Division. The Volleyball School is one of the section’s strong commitments to continue writing a brilliant future and honouring the club.
Supporting local sport is a key issue for us. Sporting partnerships and sponsorships allow us at Andamur to support the attainment of Goal 3 of Good Health and Well-being in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the UN as “To ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages”.
These activities form part of our #Wetakecareofwhatmatters CSR Plan the sphere of social commitment.
