Driven by Andamur, WOW represents the commitment to gender equality in the transportation sector. It is the umbrella under which all actions and projects aimed at making women visible in the sector coexist.
WOW is commitment; WOW is dedication; WOW is change; WOW is every woman who gives her best in the transportation sector every day.
5 years of highlighting the role of women in the sector
It all started in 2019, with the campaign #SoyCamionera. Strong, Capable, Female Truck Drivers: WOMEN, in commemoration of International Women’s Day. Since then, every year, we highlight the profession of female truck drivers through videos and testimonies where they share their experiences, challenges, and achievements in a historically male profession. During Women’s Week, our Service Areas are decorated in purple, and female drivers passing by on that day receive multiple surprises.
In 2023, we took a further step, as it is essential to give visibility to women in other key positions as well. Therefore, we launched our International Women’s Forum in the Transportation Sector, which has been held for two consecutive years.
WOW Awards, a recognition of women in the sector
During the celebration of the 2nd International Women and Transportation Sector Forum held last February in Valencia, we exclusively presented WOW, Women on the Way. It was also where we announced the creation of the WOW Awards, which will recognize innovative management in the sector, outstanding career achievements, and exceptional dedication to a life on the road. Nominations will open next September, and the awards will be presented at our 3rd International Women and Transportation Sector Forum in 2025.
WOW, a commitment that adds up
WOW is a movement that needs the strength of everyone, the commitment of every actor involved, and the support of each person to achieve a more equal sector.
Therefore, from Andamur, we encourage everyone who wants to join this movement to share any ideas or initiatives we can develop together with the same goal. Together, we will achieve something great; we will ensure that all voices in the transportation sector are heard with equal strength, making WOW an unstoppable movement.
Crossing borders with WOW, which landed in Portugal this week
Last weekend, Andamur participated in the 7th edition of the Salão Nacional do Transporte, held on July 5, 6, and 7 in Pombal, Portugal.
The event was the perfect stage for the presentation of our new initiative Women on the Way in the neighboring country. Thanks to great professionals like Ana Souta, General Director of ANTRAM, and Alexandrina Santos, a truck driver at Transwhite, we highlighted the role of women in the sector, receiving great public acceptance.
WOW, past, present, and future actions for and by women in the sector
From Andamur, we want to thank all the women who have joined all the actions framed during our Women and Transportation Sector axis in recent years and encourage all those who have not yet done so to connect with WOW. As our Director of Marketing, Customer Service, and CSR indicated at our forum, we firmly believe that “the future of transportation is female and that commitments are demonstrated with actions, and that is what we do with WOW, Women on the Way.”
